Weighted Poi Grip Handles

These handles are great for advanced users who like to toss and catch their poi.  They can also be used with heavier poi (such as paint can poi or comets) when a solid grip is needed to better distribute the weight load in your hand.  These handles come with metal balls that let you determine the weight that’s right for you!

When doing tosses with regular nylon or leather handles, the weight of the poi is greater then the handle.  This causes the handle to rotate around the poi, making it more difficult to catch, and resembles a ball being thrown through the air. 

By adding weight to the handle, the poi has a more difficult time spinning the handle around itself.  Once you reach the point where the poi and the handle are equally weighted, the poi and handle will spin around each other, resembling an isolation or a balanced staff spinning in the air. 

If you continue to add weight to the handle until it’s greater than the weight of the poi, the poi head will rotate around the handle in the air, which is what is happening when you are spinning poi, giving the impression that the performer has somehow maintained control of the poi as it’s being tossed into the air.

To add weight, simply remove the vinyl ends cap and insert desired number of ball weights.  We recommend adding cotton to keep balls from rolling around inside handles.

These Handles are designed for advanced users who have mastered poi and are looking to advance to a new level, such as larger poi or tossing.  Always practice all moves before lighting up. While the handle has been covered in rubber, it is still heavy and can cause injury if it hits you.
